Airsoft Versus Paintball Games - What Is the Difference?

!±8± Airsoft Versus Paintball Games - What Is the Difference?

One of the fun activities that a lot of Americans enjoy is war simulation games. The game requires a lot of skill, agility, strategic planning, and at times, strength, in order to emerge victorious. Most of the times, the objective of the game is to eliminate all the opponents in the shortest time possible. There are two popular types of war simulation games, with each kind using different kinds of weapons. The first is a war game where the weapons used are paintball guns, and the second are airsoft games where the firearms of choice are Automatic Electric Guns. So what are really the differences between airsoft and paintball war games?

The main difference between the two games is obviously the weapons used by the participants. In paintball war games, a paintball gun, or paintball marker as most players prefer to call it, is made up of aluminum, which effectively reduces its weight, and has a barrel, a trigger, a loader or hopper, and a gas system.

The ammunition used, aptly called paintballs, are gelatin capsules which are spherical in shape and contains non-toxic, water-soluble substance, and dyes. This type of ammunition breaks upon impact and splatters the content in the "hit area" of the player, effectively "marking" him as eliminated from the game. The paintball ammo is put on the hopper which loads the marker in a way that when you press the trigger, it is immediately expelled from the barrel by a powerful gas system, enabling the ammo to travel at an average of three hundred feet per second.

Airsoft games, on the other hand, use Automatic Electric Guns. These types of weapons closely resemble a real gun when it comes down to appearance, handling, operation, and weight. Unlike paintball markers, airsoft guns use biodegradable plastic pellets that travel at an average velocity of seven hundred feet per second. When a player is hit, he has to announce it and immediately withdraw from the game.

Early airsoft guns were developed in Japan and are single-shot devices which must be cocked after each shot in order to compress its small spring coils that propels the plastic pellets out of the barrel. As the popularity of airsoft games grew in that country where it is illegal for any citizen to own guns except unless if you are a member of the military, police or security service, the airsoft guns gradually evolved into electric powered devices which can shoot plastic pellets at a rate of approximately between one hundred and six thousand rounds per minute. This ultimately became the technology which brought the airsoft games back into the United States and many parts of Europe.

Today, airsoft games have become more popular than paintball war games due to its realistic scenario and weapons. It is therefore not surprising if airsoft games are now being enjoyed by a wide range of professionals who find the sport totally stimulating and invigorating.
